Renewable Energy Research

Introduction

As we have been working through out Energy unit in science we have discussed various types of energies, how they work, where we use, and the pros and cons of each. At this point you should all be familiar and comfortable discussing different types of energy. We are going to be combining our knowledge on this unit with our research skills to create our culminating project! Your culminating project consists of 2 parts;

1. Research done with your group and an individual write-up discussing the renewable energies that you are using on your model home

2. Building your model home with your group

Task

This webquest is to help through part 1 of the the culminating task. Together as a group you will research the renewable energy you want to put on or in your home. Then, using that research you will create a one page write-up of how you will use that energy, what it is replacing, and some of the benefits of the energy.

Process

1. Research

Using the skills you have learned throughout the year you will do research on various renewable energies for your model home. Remember to use reliable websites. Here are some resources that can refresh your memory on how to check;

2. Notes

After finding a reliable resource that is at your reading level you will start to make notes. This can be done on paper, chart paper, google docs. However, it has to be handed in! Notes should be dot jots, they should be organized by topic or website, they should be neat and easy to read.

3. Starting your write-up

After showing me your group notes I will give you permission to start your write-up. This will be done on google docs as it will be turned in onto Google Classroom. Remember you are able to use any assistive tech that you may need to complete this task. Before handing your work in you will ask a peer to check it over using our peer review check list and I will go over it with the self-review checklist.
