Introduction
Hello and Welcome to Reading Chapter Books! During your time navigating this webquest, you will learn how to pick books that interest you, fit your reading level and read through the entire book by yourself!
First, we are going to go through some basics to get you started.
Have fun and happy reading :)
Task
By the end of this 8 week period, you will have picked out at least 2 chapter books to read. One will be a book that is easy, and you can get through quickly. The second will be more challenging-perhaps at or above grade level.
Don't worry, we are going to work together! Although independent reading is the goal, I do not expect you to go through this completely alone the first time through.
Process
For your first book, you are to simply pick a book from the shelf in the classroom or from the library that you would typically choose. Pick something you find interesting!
For book #2, pick a book from the designated shelf in the classroom (ask me when your ready for this step to show you the bookshelf). Select any book that might seem interesting to you. Go to arbookfind.com and search the book for the reading level.
Copy down the book name, author and reading level on your reading log sheet.
Begin reading. Copy any difficult or new words you encounter. If an audio version is available, feel free to use it.
Fill out the question sheet in the back of your reading log after you finish a chapter or section.
Conclusion
Congratulations! You have survived your first reading webquest!
Now that you are done, you will fill out a form asking you how you felt about your first webquest experience.
Hopefully this activity challenged you, allowed you to practice critical thinking skills and opened your eyes to new topics you may like to read more about and explore.
See Miss K for your evaluation form. Happy reading!
