Reading: Burn Rubber to Help Another

Introduction

Have you ever helped a friend or wanted to make someone feel better?

Have you ever wondered how one small action can make a big difference?

In this WebQuest, imagine yourself as a changemaker.

You will explore the true story of a young boy who used what he loved to help others in need.

You’ll read, think, investigate, and create your own message using digital tools to show how helping others can create real impact.

Task

By the end of this WebQuest, you will:

  • Understand how helping others can make a real difference
  • Identify the problem, action, and impact in Mini’s story
  • Explore real-life ways people can help others in their community
  • Create a digital message that inspires others to take action

Process

Step 1: Watch & Discover (Introduction)

Watch a short video provided about helping others and making a difference. Link: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/kg6QsvrObBU?feature=share

While watching, think about:

  • How can people help?
  • Why is helping important?

Step 2: Read & Investigate (NotebookLM)

  • Complete the Tyrell Quiz in NotebookLM to check your understanding.
  • Then, answer the following questions in your English copybook in your own words:
  1. How did Mini turn his racing passion into a charity?
  2. What inspired Mini to help families fighting childhood cancer?
  3. In what ways did Mini’s Mission use its donated funds?

Step 3: Organize Your Ideas (MindMeister)

  • Create your mind map by opening the following link: https://mm.tt/map/3992187630?t=Nh6D5v0MV0
  • The mind map has already been prepared for you.
  • Your task is to fill in the missing ideas using your understanding of the story.

Step 4: Create Your Product (Designer Role)

Now it’s your turn to inspire others!

Choose ONE and create:

  • Video (60 seconds)
  • Canva poster

Include:

  • Mini’s story
  • A strong message about helping others
  • One real-life action people can take

Step 5: Share & Reflect

Post your work on padlet using the link. https://padlet.com/mayawehbii/how-can-you-use-your-own-talents-to-help-others-in-real-life-91njq9ykocnz1nt7
