Hello, my smart 1st grade readers you will go on a reading adventure with Sam-I-Am!
Have you ever read a story and wondered:

In this WebQuest, you will become Story Detectives. You’ll listen to and read a short story, then work with your group to find the answers to these guiding questions.

Your group will read or listen to the story “Green Eggs and Ham” by Dr. Seuss .
You will then:

Identify the characters and setting.

Create a Story Map poster with drawings and short sentences.

Present your Story Map to the class.

Here’s how you will complete your Reading Adventure as mini detectives
Step 1: Listen & Read

Follow along in your classroom book.
Step 2: Assign Roles

Character Finder – Who are the characters? (Hint: Sam-I-Am and all his friends in the story), Find and say lines that show who they are, Make sure characters are named on the story map.

Setting Finder – Where does the story take place? (Is Sam at home? is Sam at school? There are many places he can go), Track all the places, Add the correct setting to each story map section, Help draw and choose pictures that match the place.

Event Tracker – What happens in the beginning, middle, and end?

Illustrator – Draw pictures for the Story Map.
Step 3: Create Your Story Map

On chart paper or on the story maker link below, divide into Beginning, Middle, End boxes.

Work together to add drawings and short sentences.

Beginning: Sam-I-Am offers green eggs and ham.

Middle: The friend says “I do not like them!” in many places.
