Introduction

In today’s digital world, learning is no longer limited to books and classrooms. One powerful tool teachers use is called a WebQuest—but what exactly is it, and how can you create one?

In this activity, you will become an instructional designer who explores, analyzes, and creates your own WebQuest.

Task

You are tasked to:

  • Define what a WebQuest is
  • Identify its components
  • Analyze examples of WebQuests
  • Create your own simple WebQuest on a topic of your choice

Final Output:

  • A mini-WebQuest (with complete parts)
  • A short reflection (1–2 paragraphs) about what you learned
Process

Step 1: Understanding WebQuest

  • Research the meaning and purpose of WebQuest
  • Write your own definition

Step 2: Identifying Parts

  • List and describe the parts of a WebQuest:
  1. Introduction
  2. Task
  3. Process
  4. Resources
  5. Evaluation
  6. Conclusion

Step 3: Analyzing Examples

  • Study at least 1 - 2 sample WebQuests
  • Answer 1.) What makes them effective? 2.) What skills do they develop?

Step 4: Creating Your Own WebQuest

  • Choose a topic (e.g., English Lesson, science topic, values education)
  • Write a mini-WebQuest including all six (6) parts ​​

Step 5: Reflection

  • Answer 1.) What did you learn about WebQuest? 2.) How can you use it as a future teacher?​​

Joshua C. Manzon is passionate pre-service teacher. He was born and raised in Aklan in a warm and loving family. Growing up, he was an avid reader and loved exploring new ideas, which sparked his passion for learning.
