President's Day

The importance of this Webquest is to explore the importance of Presidents day, by choosing one president to become the expert on. You will have a series of questions to answer about your chosen president. 

There is a catch, you are not allowed to choose a president we learned in class: George Washington, Abraham Lincoln. 

*Make sure to tell me as soon as you have chosen your president, because we do not want any duplicates.*

Task

Your task is to answer the following questions. You will put your answers into a PowerPoint, that you will present to your table groups after completion. 

Questions: 

1. What is your chosen president's name?

2. Where and when was your president born? 

3. When was your president in office? 

4. What number president were you? (1st, 43rd, 14th)

5. Name two things your president did during his presidency? 

6. When did you president die? If they are still alive put that they are alive. 

7. Include a picture. 

Process

You will be creating a PowerPoint presentation. Have one slide per question. Put the picture of your president on the title page with his name. To get full credit you must have every question answered.

Proficiency Basic Needs Improvement
Project Completion 3 points: Project is fully completed, with every question answered in a PowerPoint. 2 points: Project is partially completed, with 1-2 questions unanswered in a PowerPoint.

1-0 points:

1 point: Project is missing 3-4 questions unanswered.

0 points: If more than 4 questions are unanswered. 

Accuracy of Answers 5 points: All questions are accurately answered. Answers makes sense and are correct by using the provided sources.  3 points: At least a quarter of the questions are inaccurately answered. Most of the answers came from sources provided.  1 point: More than half of the questions are answered incorrectly. Sources provided were not used. 
Presentation 2 points: Actively participating in presentation with their own as well as actively listening to other presentations in their group.  1 point: Partially participating in presentation process. Either, not fully presenting their own or not actively listening to other presentations.  0 points: Not participating or listening to others during presentation process.

Conclusion

At the end of the Webquest, you should have a final product of a PowerPoint to show your work. You will be practicing your presentation skills by sharing with your group mates your findings. It is important to learn about the presidents of our United States past, to get an understanding history and why Presidents Day is celebrated.
