Introduction
Lubna Zakarneh
This webquest is created to help students learn about the present perfect tense at the pre-intermediate level.
You already know how to use the present continuous tense to describe ongoing actions. You also know how to talk about activities in the future with the simple future and to use the simple past to talk about activities with a definite point of time in the past.
However, what tense do you use to describe an action happening in the past with an indefinite point of time?
What tense do you use to describe an action beginning in the past and lasting until present?
What tense do you use to talk about your experience?
We will answer these questions in this lesson.
Task
We have 20 students in this class. I am going to divide them into 4 groups of 5. Each group is responsible for one usage to explain.
Group 1: How to use the present perfect tense to describe an action happening in the past without a definite point of time.
Group 2: How to use the present perfect tense to describe an action beginning in the past and lasting to the present.
Group 3: How to use the present perfect tense to talk about an experience.
Group 4: How to use the present perfect tense to describe an accomplishment.
Each group will have 10 minutes to present. The groups can make the lesson more entertaining with examples, pictures, videos…etc.
At the end of the lesson, the 4 groups will do an exercise to check the understanding of the whole lesson.
Process
1- What All Groups Need to Know:
What is the formula of the present perfect tense?
Where can you find the list of irregular verbs?
What kinds of picture/video/chart can you use to demonstrate your performance and make it more interesting?
