Prepare your lesson!

Introduction

Using Chalk and board, being inside a classroom, a book and a cassette where they taught me how to pronounce some words.

That's how I was used to my English classes. But time goes by and if I delay in adapting to the technological changes, a pandemic just comes along and forces us to rethink, whether we like it or not, the way we teach and concepts such as the classroom change completely.

We as pre-service teachers must learn to adapt to these technological changes. That is why I created this Webquest, with the intention that pre-service teachers integrate different technological aids to their lessons.

Task

You as English teachers must prepare a lesson in which you integrate technological tools to teach your class.

Process

- Choose a platform: Teams, Google classroom, zoom, goconqr

- Define your students level.

- Choose a topic: Travel, Music, Cooking, History, Literature, Sports, and Movies.

- Select a grammar aspect: Reported Speech, Prepositions, Modals, Conditionals, Infinitives and gerunds, Determiners and quantifiers,                                                Adverbial     clauses.

- Design a one hour class

- Integrate 3 different apps: Baamboozle, Padlet, Edpuzzle, Kahoot, Google Jamboard, Ziteboard, Quizizz, Nearpod etc.

Evaluation

This is a self evaluation process. Please answer the following questions:

- In general, how hard was it to plan this lesson?

- Did you feel confident about how the lesson would go?

- How difficult was it to find the resources and materials you needed?

- Was your lesson plan easy to follow?

- Were your goals clear at the lesson’s start?

- Were they suitable for your students’ level?

- Did all of your students understand and meet the goals?

- What tools and technology did you use? Did their use support your goals?

Conclusion

According to the theory of evolution, it is not the strongest who survives, but the one who adapts best.

We live in strange times. We do not know what the future holds for us. We must familiarize ourselves with these technological developments if we really want to survive.
