Introduction
Have you ever given up something important for the sake of others?
In many stories and poems, characters show love and courage through sacrifice.
This WebQuest will help you discover how writers express this theme and what it means for us today.
You will explore two literary pieces. A poem and a short story. You will uncover how sacrifice shapes their message. Then, your group will share what you've learned in a shor presentation.
Task
You group will:
1. Choose one poem and short story that show the theme of sacrifice.
2. Analyze how the characters, setting, and conflict reveal this theme.
3. Create a 5- slide multimedia presentation (PowerPoint, Canva, or Google Slides).
4. Present your analysis to the class (5 minutes per group).
Process
Follow these steps carefully:
Step 1: Form Groups
- Each group should have 4-5 members.
- Assign roles: Leader, Researcher, Writer, Designer, Presenter
Step 2: Read and Explore
- Choose one from each list: (optional)
Poems:
- "Mi Ultimo Adios" by Jose Rizal
- "If" by Rudyard Kipling
- "In Equal Sacrifice" by Robert Frost
Short Stories:
- "The Giving Tree" by Shel Silverstein
- "The Gift of Magi" by O Henry
Step 3: Research
- Use reliable sources to understand the works and authors.
Step 4: Answer the Guide Questions
- Who makes the sacrifice in each text?
- What or whom did they sacrifice for?
- What message does the author want to share about love or courage?
- How does sacrifice lead to growth or change?
Step 5: Create Your Presentation
Use slides or digital posters. Include:
- Title and author of each work
- Shor summary
- Explanation of theme
- Images or quotes that supports your analysis
Step 6: Present
- Deliver your group's findings in a creative and clear way.

Conclusion
Through this WebQuest, you discoverd how authors express sacrifice as an act of love, hope, and bravery. Think about it: In your own life, how do small sacrifices show your care for others?
Literature helps us see that true love often means giving a part of ourselves — for something greater.
