Point of View

Introduction

Point of View

The narrator's position in relation to a story being told. Narration is conveyed by a narrator: a specific person or unspecified literary voice, developed by the creator of the story, to deliver information to the audience

Standard: Explain how an author's point of view or purpose is conveyed in a text.

Task

During guided reading groups students will explain how each characters point of view impacts the way the story is being told and how it changes the outcome of the story.

Process

In the book "Save Me A Seat" the story is told in two different characters point of view.

Students will pick a character "Ravi or Joe" and decide how they see what is going on in the story differently based on their personal experiences in school. Since Ravi is a new student his experiences in the new school are going to be different than Joe's.

Evaluation

Students will present each characters point of view and discuss how their background impacts their narration of the story using textual evidence.
