Introduction
Have you ever wondered why floods, landslides, and climate change are becoming more common? One big reason is deforestation the loss of trees. Trees are more than just beautiful parts of nature; they protect us from disasters, keep our air clean, and provide shelter for many living things. In this WebQuest, you will discover the power of trees and create an action plan to promote tree planting in your community.
Task
You will work in groups to create an awareness campaign (poster + short presentation) showing how planting and protecting trees can prevent disasters such as floods, landslides, and global warming.
Process
1. Form groups of 3–4 students.
2. Research the importance of trees and how they help prevent disasters.
3. Use the resources provided to gather facts, images, and ideas.
4. Design a digital poster (using Canva, PowerPoint, or Google Slides) that explains the role of trees in disaster prevention.
5. Prepare a 3–5 minute group presentation to share your campaign.
6. Submit your poster and present your campaign in class.
Evaluation
Research (30%) – clear, accurate, and well-researched information
Creativity (20%) – design and originality of the poster
Collaboration (20%) – teamwork and equal contributions
Presentation (20%) – confidence, persuasiveness, and clarity
Reflection (10%) – connection of learning to real-life disaster prevention
Conclusion
Great job, Tree Guardians! 🌳 You have learned how trees are not only part of nature but also protect us from disasters. Always remember: every tree planted is a step toward a safer, greener, and better future. Continue to spread awareness and inspire others to care for our environment.
