Planning of Unit I.

Introduction

UNIT I: INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY.

The main purpose of this unit is to learn about technology, express preferences and give advice of its usage.



The objectives to achieve are:



- To identify the usage of words and phrases through vocabulary, connectors and common phrases.

- To practice pronunciation through oral presentations.

- To demonstrate reading comprehension through written texts and reading strategies.

- To write texts in English according to a model: stories, e-mails, biographies, summaries, etc. by using multimodal resources.

Task

The task:



- You will choose a technological object. Then, you will record a video in which you will talk about its characteristics, usage, advantages and disadvantages.

Process

Steps for doing the task:



- First, choose a technological object of your interest.

- Second, search information about the object you chose on the internet, and read.

- Third, write the most important aspects of the object (information, usage, advantages, disadvantages, etc.).

- Then, make a summary of what you read before. Create a kind of screenplay with the information.

- Finally, record the video with the information gathered.

Evaluation

The evaluation will consider the following categories:



- Topic

- Information related (usage, advantages and disadvantages)

- Pronunciation

- Coherence and cohesion

- Creativity



You will be evaluated with the Rubric below.

Conclusion

As you already know, technology has an important role in our daily life. Some people use it for working, some for learning or teaching and others just for entertaining. Being informed, investigate, read in English and understand what you read, will help you express ideas correctly, learn new vocabulary and phrases and of course, choose the best options at the time of using technology.
