Introduction

The verb to get is very common in English, you will be surprised by its different meanings and uses.
While in Spanish we have an expression for every single thing. In English, there are Phrasal verbs which are verbal structures composed of two particles: verb + adjective, adverb, or preposition that serve to define specific actions or states. So every time you use the verb with a different particle, you will get a totally new expression. Cool, right?
This time we are going to learn the verb To get + adjectives, prepositions, or adverbs to obtain different expressions each time.
For this WebQuest I want you to put all your knowledge in English together so the combination of the two words can make sense to you.
Task
The task is to create a multimedia presentation with narrative voice (your own voice) where you can show us your understanding of the Verb To Get+ one of the components by saying the things you do during your summer vacation.
- You will explore the different phrase adverbs of the verb To Get.
- You will put into practice the new expressions.
- You will explore different places in North America where people like spending their summer.
- You will explore some activities people like doing during summer.
The final product will be shared with your class!
Take into account that a multimedia presentation can be a video, a cartoon, a presentation, etc. Remember to add your narrative voice and be creative!
Process
Step 1: Start by learning some phrasal verbs with To Get.
- Watch the following video

Step 2: Practice the phrasal verbs
- Take five minutes to memorize the new expressions.

Step 3: Discover some wonderful places in North America.
- Research which countries are part of North America and look up their capitals and the languages spoken in each country. Take note of this information in your notebook.
Step 4: Read about 35 beautiful tourist spots in North America.
- Go to this link and read about some spots you can visit in North America and the different activities you can do in each one of them https://www.explore.com/travel/best-kept-secret-travel-destinations-north-america If you find new vocabulary make sure to write it down and take the time to look up the meaning.
Step 5: Gather the information!
- Choose one of the places you read about.
- Make sure you know its geographic location, the language spoken, and ten things, actions, or states you can do there using phrasal verbs with To Get.
- For each activity write down a sentence using phrasal verbs with To Get. Make sure to show me once you have 10 different sentences.
Step 6: Let's get creative!
- Start creating your multimedia presentation. To do it, select a tool or software such us (Prezi, Powerpoint, Canva, storyboard, youtube, etc ).
- In the presentation, you should include ten pictures, videos, or graphics to show the different activities, actions, or states you can do there.
- Include the name of the country and the language spoken at the beginning of the presentation.
- Include the references of pictures or videos that you decide to use at the end of the presentation.
Step 7: Final step, almost there!
- Once you are done, remember to include your narrative voice using the phrasal verb with To Get, make sure to have a clear voice so what is said can be understood. (Here you use the same sentences you wrote down).
Evaluation
Your presentation will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
-Notes (20 points)
- Countries with their geographic location, capitals, and languages spoken.
- New vocabulary learned about the 35 spots in North America.
- Practice exercises online.
- Ten full written sentences using phrasal verbs with To Get, talking about activities or actions you can do in the place that you choose.
-Presentation and organization (15 points)
- Logical flow of information.
- Visual appeal.
- Use of multimedia elements.
-Content (40 points)
- The narrative voice is clear and understandable.
- The narrative voice matches what is been shown.
- Use of ten different phrasal verbs with To Get.
- Information about the country is included.
- References are included.
-Creativity (15 points)
- Creativity in the presentation design.
- Innovative use of multimedia designs.
-Collaboration (10 points)
- Contribution to the overall success of the class's presentation.
- If working in groups active participation and collaboration.

Congratulations ESL students! You have explored, learned, and practiced a lot!
Thanks to this WebQuest you are now familiar with phrasal verbs with To Get. You are able to use it in real-life situations and you have achieved in days what takes others months to learn.

This WebQuest is aimed at the High school level. For ESL students with a medium level of proficiency in the second language. This is an appropriate tool for working in groups or individually. Some students may need assistance with technology tools.
This activity can take six hours to be completed.
The goal of this WebQuest is to teach phrasal verbs with To Get. That Students can learn them, put them into practice, and can use them in a final product, in this case, a multimedia presentation.
To do this, first of all, they will watch a video in which they will have to take notes on the new vocabulary. Then they will do some activities in Wallword and Liveworksheets to practice what they have learned. After that, they will choose a tourist spot in North America from a blog called Explore.
Once this is done, they will write ten sentences of activities or actions that they can do in that place using different phrasal verbs with To Get. In this way, they not only practice new vocabulary but also the one previously learned. Students also explore different places in North America.
Finally, having the information gathered, they will create a multimedia presentation, which can be a video, a cartoon, or a presentation. To do this, they need to use technological tools like Prezi, Youtube, Canva, etc. They must add a picture for each activity or action and they should record their voices reading the sentences already written and add it to the presentation. They should also include information about the spot they are talking about such as language spoken and geographic location.
Throughout the lesson, students practice their writing, reading, listening, and speaking skills.
