ELAGSEKRF2: Demonstrate understanding of spoken words, syllables, and sounds (phonemes).

d. Isolate and pronounce the initial, medial vowel, and final sounds (phonemes) in three-phoneme (consonant-vowel-consonant, or CVC) words. (This does not include CVCs ending with /l/, /r/, or/x/.)

This lesson was designed for kindergarten students who are becoming readers as well as writers. Students are to use this web quest to become more independent learners. Through the interactive videos that align with the work assignments, students will develop skills and strategies that will help them learn more CVC words. Differentiated instruction with technology and activities are needed.

Suggestions:

Have students watch videos. Instead of writing for one activity, students can draw a picture.

Instead of reading a word, sound the word out with a partner making this Webquest group work.

Read ALL questions to students.

Have students respond instead of writing.

Give students options of playing games instead of watching videos:https://www.turtlediary.com/game/word-family.html
