Introduction
Part of living a healthy lifestyle to is to continue to grow intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually. We engage in learning that stimulates our thinking and drives our passion. We then seek out opportunities to put this education into practice. But is that all it takes? To really reach our full potential, we need to balance our intellectual knowledge and experience, with the development of emotional intelligence as well. When we have a balance of both hard and soft skills, we can ultimately reach our biggest goals, and realize our greatest dreams. There are several studies that define the aspects of emotional intelligence and relate them to successful engagement in career and social relations.
Task
In this webquest, participants will work through a series of interviews and lectures with professionals in the field of emotional intelligence, including Daniel Goleman, author of Emotion Intelligence, and other articles, one written in the Harvard Review. In the first section, participants will learn about the origins and theory of EQ and its development in youth in several video presentations. Secondly, participants will review the areas of EI and relate them to the workplace. Finally, participants will learn how to apply EI in a job interview, and realize desirable skills for greater career success.
