Persepolis

Introduction

To Start with, for everyone:

Timeline - Timeline of Modern Iran and its revolutions

Maps and Geography/History of Persia (present day Iran)

This book is set in Iran (used to be Persia). Where is Iran? Search the web and find two maps of Iran --- one that shows the relationship of Iran to the world, and one that zooms in on the country itself.  Draw a map on the white paper provided. 

Now, within your groups divide up the following tasks and create a presentation through Google slide which you can share with the class and your peers. 

Group 1 - Islam Religion

Group 2 - Dictators

Allusions in the text: In the text, there are several allusions made to people and historical events.  You will not be able to understand what is referenced in the text without some background knowledge of these events/people.  Look up the following people, events, etc., on the web (search and use a website of your choice that you consider reliable – this is part of understanding how to research something).  Then, in a minimum of 5 sentences, IN YOUR OWN WORDS write down the most important information that you find on each person/event.
