Conclusion
The perimeter of a two-dimensional shape is the distance around the shape. It is calculated by adding up all the sides ( as long as they are all the same unit). The area of a two-dimensional shape is found by counting the number of squares that cover the shape. Many formulas have been developed to easily find out the area of standard polygons, like triangles and parallelograms.
Make sure that you understand the difference between area and perimeter and when to perform which calculation. Make sure you can pick out the correct formula for your calculations and that your answer is in the correct unit. Ensure you answer the question in application questions, and that you perform all the steps of the calculations.
