Introduction

Today's topic is about painters in history and the evaluation of art through the ages. As they 've all learnt these tense before,students should first focus on the past simple tense for activites.They can use present and future tenses to express their thoughts. They can distinguish the verb forms, infinitive,simple past and past participle.The webquest includes CLIL (Content Language Integrated Learning) based lesson plan.They are 16-17 years old 11th grade high school students and their levels are pre-intermediate and intermediate.

Task

The lesson is 60 minutes. 

Warm up- 5 minutes

Task 1- 15 minutes

Task 2 -15 minutes

Task 3-25 minutes

In warm up, ask questions about painters in history to see which painters they know and other question will be about these painters and their art styles.

Task 1, students will choose an artist from history and they will make a little research about them,their art styles and the century in the first 5 minutes.After that they will narrate their searches to the class with using Past Simple tense. 

Task 2, I will open a video about evaluations of art through the ages. It is a 1 minute video. After the video I will give some questions and open the Answergarden to answer the questions.

We will discuss their opinions.

Task 3 ,students will create a poster about these artists.

 

Process

Warm up: 5 minutes

Ask questions to make students have an idea about the lesson.

Which painters do you know?, which famous paintings do you know?, what do you know about these painters? and what do you think about these paintings?

Task 1: 15 minutes.

Give a research activity to students.

Choose an artist from history and  research him/her. You can write down your searches. You should search their century they lived, their famous paintings or the reason why did you choose him/her ? 

They have 5 minutes to do the research. After that, they will tell their researches to the others with using past simple tense. (Picasso lived in early ages 1881-1900..)

Task 2: 15 minutes 

Open a video about evaluation of art through the ages.(1 minute long)

After the video, open the Answergarden online tool.

(What do you think about these differences between ages and art styles?, What is the main reason of these differences, how was the 18th century arts? According to the first activity, can you give me an example of artists of each century that you see in the video? Students will answer these questions with writing in Past Simple form.

Task 3: 25 minutes 

Students will create a poster about the lesson topic which is painters and paintings. Students should do this in groups.They have 15 minutes to do that. Teacher can help students if they have any questions and troubles.
