Hello Students!

The meaning of this WebQuest is to inform you of our new material we will be learning! Students will be drawing self-portraits Pablo Picasso style. Our lesson will start by viewing videos and articles on Picasso's life and art movement.

-Students will be able to question the emotion and meanings behind their artwork. 

-Students can preform the style of expressionism and symbolism as well as knowing the difference between abstract and realistic art in their drawings with 95% accuracy. 

 

 

 

Task

Teacher will take photos of students' from the neck up. Vocabulary words for the lesson will be provided, including, Expressionism, Symbolism, Oil pastels, and Balance. Background information such as articles and videos will be provided on Edvard Munch. Students will use oil pastels to draw their version of The Scream. Teacher will provide students with their pictures to paste on the head of their person in their compositions. 

Process

Supplies needed:

-Photos of Students (Provided by the teacher)

-8.5 x 11 Paper

-Oil Pastels 

-Glue Stick

Students will prepare by viewing the videos and articles provided as well as an in class mini lesson. 

Students will start their process by having the teacher take a picture of them "screaming" from the neck up.

Students will discuss with their table ideas or questions about the project.

Students will work on their composition for two days - individually as well as interacting with their peers. 

Students will then post their masterpieces on the wall for everyone to see. 

Students will be graded in the evaluation stage.

2 points: Creativity and Portrayed emotion 

2 points: Use of oil pastels 

2 points: Use of vocabulary words 

2 points: Participation 

Total: 10 points 

Conclusion

Students will accurately describe art vocabulary as well as movements.

Students will create art relevant to their personal choice and voice. 

Students clarify the meanings between abstract and realistic art.
