Introduction
Welcome: Our Solar System
Description: About our Solar System
Grade level: 4-6
Curriculum: Science
Keywords: Solar System, Earth, Planets, Galaxy
Author: Josiebel L. Lapoja
Our Solar System is the gravitationally bound system of the Sun and the objects that orbit it, either directly or indirectly. Of the objects that orbit the Sun directly, the largest are the eight planets, with the remainder being smaller objects, the dwarf planets and small Solar System bodies.
Our Solar System contains eight planets. The are Planet Earth, Jupiter, Mars, Neptune, Saturn, Uranus, Venus and Mercury. There is only one star in our solar system, and that is the Sun. The Sun is the largest object in our Solar system. Our Solar System is 4.5 billion years old and the oldest planet in our solar system is Jupiter. By the end of this WebQuest, students will learn more facts about our Solar System, Planets in our Solar System and the Sun.
Task
The students will be task to answer this guide guestions below:
1. What is Solar System?
2. What are the different planets in the Solar System?
3. What is the smallest planet?
4. What is the third planet from the sun?
5. What is the blue-green giant planet that looks like Uranus?
6. What is the most spectacular planet and it's famous for its beautiful ring?
7. It is the red planet?
8. It is the center of the Solar System?
9. What is the planet that is nearest to the sun and no atmosphere?
10. How many planets in the Solar System?
Then, the students will be placed in groups of two or three, with a total of ten groups. Each group will be assigned a topic about our Solar System. Students will create a poster board about the Solar System, planets or Sun. The poster board must be creative and contain at least three pictures. Also, citations must be added on the poster board as well. When students are done with their poster boards, they must present it to the class. Everyone must participate in presentation and the presentation must last at least three minutes.
