Introduction

Good morning students, this English course is about literature basics.  In this course, students will be able to explore basic concepts in literature, terms and the student will read some classic literature works.  Students will see some English lauthors such as Shakespeare, Edgar Allan Poe, Lord Byron and others.  

In this course, students will read some poems from classical English literature, write summaries from short stories.  Most of the authors discussed in class will be from Renaissance , and other important periods such as Romantic, Neo Classical, Victorian.

Task

In our first task, student will read a poem from Lord Byron Kubla Khan where the student will read the poem and write a summary about the poem, and the student try to descipher the main idea about the topic and the themes that the author wrote in the literary work.

Next part of the tast, the student will choose a short story from the list of authors from Romantic period.  The student can talk about authors from this period of time and the student will write a brief summary and the student will provide the themes, main ideas and messages that the author tried to tell in the short story.

Activity 1: Student will read poem Kubla Khan and will write brief summary about the poem https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poems/43991/kubla-khan.  Student will provide themes and main ideas about the poem.

Activity 2: Choose a short story (American or Englis short story) and write a brief summary about it. Provide main ideas, themes, and other literary figure you can find in the short sotry. Evaluation

The assignments will be scored in the following way:

                                                                                 Content:75 %

                                                                 Oral presentation: 25 %

                                                                          Total Score: 100%               

Conclusion

This webquest has been an excellent tool to talk about literature and great way to show the importance of literature in our language.

Since 2003 I began my studies in the University of Panama. I worked as an English teacher in 2010 after graduating from the University of Panama.

 After that, I worked in EGS and SITEL, a call center as a Customer Service Representative from 2011 to 2016. I have been working as an English teacher in MEDUCA since 2017.
