In this Webquest, you are all going to be an online shopper! You are given a task and you are expected to accomplish these tasks both individually and as groups. Our topic is online shopping and with this activity, you will practice making comparşsons between options, making suggestions, and doing an internet search. You will do your research through the internet so keep in mind the things we covered in the lesson in terms of safe and smart online search.

Task
Before you start read the instructions carefully and understand what you should do in turn.
You are talking with your best friend on the telephone and she is saying that she needs to buy something important for her mother's birthday but there are two problems: the first one is that she is living far away from the city center and shopping places and she is not able to go there also she still could not decide what to buy for her mother. She is really sad because she says that her mother gives too much importance to birthdays. She asks for help from you and you give your best friend some advice. You are suggesting that she can buy a present for her mother via the internet. However, she says that she has never done shopping online and she has no idea about it. You are saying that you can help them because you like shopping online and doing searches. Your budget is 150 Turkish Liras. You need to find the most suitable present for this price by looking at the options on the internet.

Process
1. Your first task is to do a brainstorm the items that your friend could buy as a present for her mother. You will choose an item as a present and make research on this item. While you do that, you are given a worksheet and you will complete the related information on the worksheet. You will have the necessary information about your friend's mom's physical features such as her height, weight, and size, or personal preferences such as her hobbies likes, and dislikes.
2.In the worksheet, there are parts that you need to fill while you do your research on the item such as the price of the item, name of the shopping sites, shipping price, color/size/features of the item. There is also a part in which you are expected to justify your decision on the present. There are some questions like " Why do you think this "item" could be a perfect present for my best friend's mom. So, you are expected to write a mini paragraph about 80-100 words. In your paragraph, try to explain the reason why you think this item is the most suitable present for your friend by indicating its features clearly and try to make comparisons while doing this. For example; "I think this "item" could be the most suitable present for my friend's mom's birthday because she likes the color blue and because she likes wearing hats".
3. After you decide on the item and fill the worksheet with the necessary information, you are expected to put the link or the photo of the item to the worksheet document.
4. After you completed the worksheet, I will ask you to create a Powerpoint presentation. This presentation should include information on the item that you choose, the reason why you chose this item as a present, and finally your own ideas and experiences on online shopping while doing this activity.

Conclusion
In this Webquest, my aim is to provide students an authentic English exposure through the internet and help them to make comparisons among different items, make decisions based on provided information and present their ideas through oral presentation.
