O Canada!

Introduction

Congratulations! You and your team have been chosen to create a multimedia advertising campaign for our friendly neighbors to the north, Canada!

Canada is similar to the United States, but has many unique features that make it special.

Your job will include creating a multimedia advertising campaign promoting one of Canada's beautiful provinces!

Task

Your group will consist of 2-3 students, who will each be responsible for a portion of the final product.

As a team, you will pick a province to promote and then research and learn some interesting facts about that province and use that information to introduce Canada's uniqueness to other people at our Canadian Fair.

The following are some topics you must address in your advertising campaign.

  • provincial/territorial flag
  • capital city
  • major industries/ economy
  • tourist activities / sports
  • languages
  • climate
  • arts and culture (festivals/cultural attractions)
  • land area and population information
  • physical and geographical features (mountains, rivers, lakes)
  • important historical events
  • other information you find interesting and relevant

Why should tourists visit your province? Why is your province special? What unique historical sights and tourist attractions can be enjoyed in your province?

Process

Your team will create THREE of the following items for the multimedia advertising campaign.

These items include:

1. A brochure created using Microsoft Publisher.

2. A poster size advertisement of your province. This poster must include a combination of hand drawn pictures, computer graphics and images.

3. 5-10 slide commercial that ‘sells’ your province to the class. The commercial will be created using PowerPoint. In this commercial, you will highlight particular areas of your province for the audience.

4. A 30-60 second video promoting your province and all it has to offer to tourists.

5. A research report highlighting the significance of your province.
