Nouns

Nouns are words that names a person, place, thing, animals, events or ideas.

 

Concrete Nouns vs. Abstract Nouns

  • Concrete nouns name people, place or things that are tangible which means you can touch, see, hear, smell or taste.

  • Abstract nouns name ideas, concepts or emotions. These nouns are intangible which means you cannot touch, see, hear, smell or taste the, using your five senses.

Common Nouns vs. Proper Nouns

  • Common nouns name common person, place, thing or idea of the same class or kind. They are not capitalized unless they come at the beginning of a sentence.
  • Proper nouns are the particular names of specific person, places, things or ideas. Proper nouns should always be capitalized.
