Introduction
Today, we are going to study noun phrase.
definition: Noun phrase is a word or group of words in a sentence that behaves in the same as a noun that is as a subject, an object, a complement or as a the object of preposition ( Oxford Advance Learner's Dictionary 2015:1022).
Another definition: Noun phrase is a group of words ending with a noun.
example: the bank closed at two o'clock.
the bold word is a " the bank".
The (adjective as a modifier), bank (noun as a head).
Another example:
1. A beautiful girl.
A (adjective as a modifier), beautiful (adjective as a modifier), girl (noun as a head).
2. The scary dog.
The (adjective as a modifier), scary (adjective as a adjective), dog (noun as a head).
Task
Put the adjectives in brackets in the correct position and than identify the modifier and the head of the sentences.
