Animals of the World:45 Minutes for 5 Days

Let's begin to learn about the "African Safari"! There are so much new exciting information to learn about Africa and its' wildlife!

Oh, no! The company "Travel Africa" is running low on tour guides to ride the bus and explain about the climate, plants, and animals of Africa. You have been hired as a new Safari guide for the company and you must become an expert on as much as you can!

Task

Your task will be  to become an expert on two types of animals, the climate, and terrain of a

specific country in Africa with another classmate. After each group has became an expert,

everyone will present and share their knowledge on what they learned! Students can create a poster,

brouchure, or power point to demonstrate what they've learned. Everyone will be an expert and be ready

to become a tour guide!

Process

1) Choose a partner!

3) Choose a country in Africa!

2) Do some research and get an idea about what 2 animals are intereested in becoming an expert about.

3) Confirm with teacher about animals chosen. No Repeats!

4) Begin researching! These are some guidelines to follow about researching each animal:

1.      Habitat

2.      Diet

3.    Life span

4. Adaptations

5. 2 or more interesting facts

5) Reseach the climate and terrain of the specific country chosen.

6) Synthesize information into a brouchure, powerpoint, or poster board.

7) Present information into a 4-5 minute presentation.

Teacher Page

Focus: This lesson could be used for students in grade 4 to 5. My main purpose was to introduce students to the awesome animals of Africa, their habitats, the beginning of the food chain and adaptations. Students will not only learn about the animals, country they chose, and climate, but all the other topics classmates chose. I wanted students to be able to choose what they are most interested in and work cooperativley in a group.
