- ANZAC is an abbreviation of The Australian and New Zealand Army Corps.
- All ANZACs were volunteers.
- ANZAC Day is a public holiday in Australia and commemorates the landing of Australian and New Zealand troups at Gallipoli, 25 April 1915.
- ANZAC cookies were created by wives of soldier's who wanted to bake healthy goodies for their husbands.
- The youngest ANZAC was 14 years and 3 months old!

Completion of this WebQuest will allow students to identify and discuss the significance and historical origins of ANZAC Day, while gaining a deeper understanding and appreciation of the importance of symbols and emblems associated with ANZAC Day. Students will explore, examine, analyse and summarise research while creating an interesting end product.
This Web Quest is designed for a Year Three class and will take a minimum of six one hour lessons to complete. Students should spend two lessons per activity. It makes up part of a unit of work - Days and weeks celebrated or commemorated in Australia.
The activities are to be completed in pairs or groups of three, focusing on Blooms Taxonomy theory. The students will need access to Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and various websites on the internet including YouTube. Suggested links have been included for each section.
Students will have the choice of which tasks they wish to complete.
Content Description
Year 3: ACHHK063 Days and weeks celebrated or commemorated in Australia (including Australia Day, ANZAC Day, Harmony Week, National Reconciliation Week, NAIDOC week and National Sorry Day) and the importance of symbols and emblems.
Elaboration
Identifying and discussing the historical origins of an important Australian celebration or commemoration.
