Introduction
In this project you will learn about the plant process of photosynthesis and about its importance to the earth and all living creatures. As a part of this project, your group will be assigned a very important task to complete.
Task
Create a PowerPoint presentation, prezi, or posterboard covering key information over photosynthesis and its importance to life on earth.
Process
1. Take notes on key information from these websites;
- http://www.ftexploring.com/me/photosyn1.html
- http://www.ftexploring.com/photosyn/chloroplast.html
- http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/methuselah/photosynthesis.html
- http://encarta.msn.com/encyclopedia_761572911/ Photosynthesis.html
2. Start your presentation. You should consider including the following information in your presentation:
- The location of photosynthesis (where in the plant it occurs)
- The basic mechanism of photosynthesis (what happens)
- The outputs of photosynthesis (what is created during the process and why it's important)
- The equation for photosynthesis
- Other reasons why photosynthesis is important (reasons why chemical should not be released into the atmosphere to block sunlight)
3. Good Job.
Evaluation
Points will be awarded according to the following rubric:

Presentation lists a few main reasons why photosynthesis is important and may leave out one or two of the key reasons.
|
Presentation clearly lists several main reasons why photosynthesis is important. |
Conclusion
We use plants for food, medicine, clothing, building materials, and many other products. Plants provide homes and shelter to wildlife as well as providing us with beautiful scenery. You now are much more aware of the importance of photosynthesis and of plants. You now also have a very good basis of knowledge about the photosynthetic process, such as its inputs and outputs and where it takes place.
Make sure that you have completed turned in the following to me:
