Your task is to find our more about the amazing ear!

Task

Your task is to find out more about the ear, as well as to explore different types of hearing loss.  You will need a pencil and paper to complete this webquest.  Your work will be turned in.

1.    Read the article at this link for a general overview of the ear.

2.    Now that you have a general idea of the structures that make up the ear and how they work, let’s get a little more specific.  Click on the links below and use them to draw a model of the ear.  Be sure to correctly label each part.

3.    Read the article below to write a description for each part of the ear you labeled in your diagram.

10. Spend some time at a variety of sites playing with the hearing loss siumulators. Give examples of what can and cannot be heard given the various degrees of hearing loss.  You may have to copy and paste the links into your browser.

11. This webquest focuses on one part of a human being, the ear, and what happens when it does not work correctly.  Now, watch these video clips.  What is the tone?  Can deaf people really do anything?  Is deafness a disability or just a different way of living life?  Is it possible that as a hearing person, you may be missing out on a world of silence?
