Aviator Autobiographies

Introduction

In the 1800s and 1900s, aviation made many advancements.  There were a few people who really stood out in their inventions and bravery to reach new heights in flying.

Task

Your task is to research as much as you can about one great aviator.  You can watch videos, look at websites, or read books to find facts about the aviator you choose.

After this half-term, everyone will present to the class an autobiography of their chosen aviator.  You will pretend to be that person and tell about their early life, their inspiration for flying and what they accomplished in the world of aviation.  The presentation will include a written report and if you wish, you may dress-up like the aviator you choose to research.

Process

Here are some very helpful websites you can use to research for your presentation.  Also, you can also visit your local library to find books about the aviator you chose.

Evaluation

You will receive Dolphin Dollars depending on how well you deliver your autobiography.

Here are the top three success criteria:

  1. Report is written in first person.
  2. Volume is loud enough for all to hear and eye contact is made with audience during the presentation.
  3. You talk about the early life, inspiration for flying, and the invention for or contribution to aviation that your chosen person had.

You get extra points for dressing-up like your chosen aviator.
