Introduction
Imagine living under an oppressive government for over 300 years, where your rights are ignored, voice is silenced, and your country's wealth is taken to fund a foreign nation's empire. What would you do? Would you stay silent or would you risk your life for freedom?
A certain group of Filipinos in 1892 chose the latter. They became known as the Kataas-taasan, Kagalang-galangang Katipunan ng mga Anak ng Bayan (KKK or Katipunan). With the likes of Andres Bonifacio, they created a secret society that sparked anti-colonial revolution.
You will now step into the shoes of historical investigators. Your mission is to reveal the ideals of the Katipunan and think of how those can be applied to the youth of today.
Task
Your task is to create a "Modern Katipunero Campaign" through an infographic.
Keep in mind these details to be included in your campaign:
- Use compelling visuals and persuasive language to inspire your fellow youth to be the modern Katipuneros.
- Highlight the core values and ideals you found regarding the Katipunan.
- Translate these principles into actionable advice for modern issues of today.
Process
Follow these steps in doing the task:
- Just like the Katipunan, you are not to do this alone. You shall be in a group of 4 students. Assign roles among you. Make sure that each of you contribute to the output.
- Investigate the Katipunan. Research on the internet how it was founded and what their goals were. Find out who were the key figures.
- Select at least 4 core values from the Kartilya that you think are most relevant to the modern problems we face today. Brainstorm how modern youth can practice them.
- Use tools like Canva or Powerpoint in creating your infographic. Ensure that your output has though-provoking title and a Call-to-Action part.
