Introduction

Have you ever looked up at the night sky and wondered, “What is out there?”

Let’s become little space explorers! We are going on an exciting journey through our Solar System to learn about planets, stars, and the amazing world beyond Earth.

Put on your imaginary astronaut helmet and get ready for takeoff!

Task

Your task is to become a young space explorer and learn about the planets in our Solar System.

With the help of your teacher, explore pictures, videos, and child-friendly websites about the planets. Choose one planet that interests you and discover some simple facts about it.

You will:

Learn the names of the eight planets.

Identify Earth as the planet where we live.

Choose your favorite planet.

Find out its color, size, and one interesting fact.

Draw or create a model of your chosen planet.

Share your planet with the class using the sentence:

“My planet is ______. It is ______. I like it because ______.”

At the end of the WebQuest, you will have created your own Planet Explorer Project.

Follow these steps to complete your space adventure.

Step 1: Explore the Solar System

With your teacher, look at pictures and watch a short video about the Solar System.

Learn the names of the eight planets:

Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune

Step 2: Find Earth

Look at the different planets and find Earth.

Talk with your teacher about:

What color is Earth?

What do we see on Earth?

Why is Earth special to us?

Step 3: Choose a Planet

Choose one planet that you would like to learn more about.

Find out:

What is the planet called?

What color is it?

Is it big or small?

Does it have rings?

What is one interesting fact about it?

Step 4: Create Your Planet

Draw, paint, or make a simple model of your chosen planet.

Add details such as its color, rings, moons, or other interesting features.

Step 5: Share Your Discovery

Show your planet project to your classmates.

Tell them:

“My planet is ______. It is ______. One interesting thing about it is ______.”

Step 6: Talk About What You Learned

With your teacher and classmates, discuss:

Which planet did you like best?

What did you learn about your planet?

Which planet would you like to visit?

What makes each planet special?
