Introduction

Technology is very important in our daily life. We use computers in school, work, communication, and entertainment. To use a computer properly, students must understand the different parts of a computer and their functions.

In this WebQuest, you will explore the basic computer hardware and software, identify their uses, and understand how they help people in everyday tasks.

Task

At the end of this activity, the students will be able to:

  1. Identify the different computer hardware devices.
  2. Explain the functions of hardware and software.
  3. Differentiate hardware from software.
  4. Create a simple presentation about computer parts and their uses.
Process

Step 1: Research About Computer Hardware

Search and read information about the following hardware devices:

  • Monitor
  • Keyboard
  • Mouse
  • CPU/System Unit
  • Printer
  • Speakers

Write their functions in your notebook.

Step 2: Research About Computer Software

Learn the meaning of software and identify examples such as:

  • Operating System
  • Microsoft Word
  • Google Chrome
  • VLC Media Player
  • Antivirus Software

Explain the purpose of each software.

Step 3: Compare Hardware and Software

Create a table like this:

Physical parts of the computer Programs and applications

Add at least 3 more examples.

Step 4: Create a Presentation

Using PowerPoint, Canva, or Google Slides:

  • Add pictures of hardware and software
  • Write their functions
