WebQuest Blueprint: The Grand Sagala Explorer

Introduction

"Calling all Culture Detectives!" The town is getting ready for the most beautiful festival of the year—Flores de Mayo! But wait, our festival guide has lost its pages! We need your help to find out why we offer flowers, who the Reynas are, and how to make a beautiful "Arco" (arch). Are you ready to go on a digital journey to save the festival? Put on your explorer hats—the Sagala is waiting for you!

Task

Your mission is to become a Festival Designer. By the end of this journey, you will:

  1. Identify three main symbols of Flores de Mayo.

  2. Choose your favorite "Reyna" and explain what she represents.

  3. The End Product: Create a "Digital Festival Poster" (or a physical drawing) showing your own version of a beautiful festival arch and flower offering.

Process

Follow these steps to complete your mission:

  • Step 1: The Flower Search. Watch the "Festival Clip" in the resources to see how people celebrate. Note the colors you see.

  • Step 2: Meet the Reynas. Click on the "Sagala Guide" link. Pick one Queen (like Reyna Elena) and find out what she carries in her hands.

  • Step 3: The Design Studio. Using the shapes we learned (circles for flowers, arches for the parade), draw your festival scene.

  • Step 4: The Presentation. Share your drawing with a partner and tell them one thing you learned about the "Sampaguita."
