Introduction
COMPARISON OF COGNITIVE PSYCHOLOGY, BEHAVIORISM, AND SOCIAL COGNITIVE THEORY
Have you ever noticed how some people learn better by doing things, while others learn by watching or just thinking it through? Not everyone learns the same way, and that’s what this is about. In this assignment, you’re going to look at three different learning theories and understand how they explain behavior in the classroom.
Task
For this assignment you will:
- Learn about Cognitive Psychology, Behaviorism, and Social Cognitive Theory
- Compare how each one explains learning
- Make a presentation showing the differences
In your presentation, you need to:
- Explain each theory in your own words
- Give examples of how it would look in a classroom
- Say which one you think works best and why
Process
- First research each theory and take notes
• Cognitive Psychology: focuses on thinking, memory, and how people process information
• Behaviorism: focuses on rewards, punishments, and observable behavior
• Social Cognitive Theory: focuses on learning by watching others - As you go think about how each one would actually show up in a classroom
- Make a simple comparison chart so you can clearly see the differences
- Create your presentation
• One slide for each theory
• One slide comparing them
• One slide with your opinion - Be ready to explain your answers clearly
Evaluation

Mostly clear with minor mistakes |
Some confusion or missing information |
|
Comparison |
Strong and detailed comparison between all three |
Some comparison but not fully explained |
Very basic or barely compares them |
|
Examples |
Examples make sense and clearly connect to each theory |

Conclusion
After this you should understand that there isn’t just one way people learn. Each theory explains something different, and teachers usually use a mix of all of them.
Reflection
- Which theory do you think teachers use the most?
- Which one works best for you?
- Do you think all three should be used together?
