Types of Start in Track and Field

Introduction

Students will learn the two different types of starts in track and field and the events to which they are associated with. Students will demonstrate the correct techniques when executing the different starts. Students will work willingly in groups. Students will explain the coaching points while demonstrating the different starts. 

Task

Students will use online resources to learn about the two types of start and the events to which they are associated. 

Students will state the varying coaching points associated with each type of start.

Students will be able to practice and demonstrate these starts during class individually and collaboratively.

Process

Vocabulary Terms: Crouch Start, Standing Start, Bridge Positioning of Hands, Five Point.

Students will be assigned to watch videos that demonstrate and explain the various starting position along with instructions on how to execute them correctly.

Students will be able to demonstrate each starting position and discuss the coaching points and affiliated events.

Evaluation

Vocabulary: Students can correctly define and use key terms.

Audio and Visual Comprehension: Did students accurately interpret the audio and visual instructions?
