Assessment for Holocaust Unit

Introduction

We have gathered quite a bit of information on the Holocaust and WWII. Your goal now is to use your knowledge to create a presentation on the topic.

Task

You have freedom in how you want to display your content. For example, you can do a Google Slides, a 20-question Blooket/Kahoot, make a song or podcast, etc. If you have an idea that is not listed above, let me know! I am always up for different ideas.

Google Slides:

- 4-6 slides (not including the title slide)

- A picture on each slide

- A 2-minute maximum video is allowed

- Please don't put all your information on the slides! Use notecards for the presentation.

Blooket/Kahoot:

- Minimum 20 questions

- Material needs to come from anything that was used in class.

- A picture needs to be included with each question

Song/Poem:

- Song needs to be at least 1 minute

- Poems can be any style

- 2 poems on different topics needed

Podcast:

- Can work with one or two classmates to create and record the podcast.

- The podcast needs to be an extension of what has been taught in class.

- It needs to be at least 3-5 minutes

Etc.:

- I will work with students who have other ideas.

Project

Has all the required components of the media they chose

Has half of the required components

Has no elements from the required components

Medium Look

Project is visually appealing (through pictures, text, format) and or the recording is loud and clear

The project is slightly visually appealing, and the recording is neither loud nor clear

The project is not complete or lacks elements needed

Presentation

The presenter is looking at other classmates while presenting, and the voice is clear and confident.

The presenter gives background on their poem, song, or podcast. The podcasters are confident in their topic. The song has background music of some kind, and you can hear the musician.

The presenter is looking at flashcards most of the time and isn’t showing confidence.

The presenter is talking softly, and their media doesn’t show confidence in their topic.

The presenter looks at notecards the entire time and isn’t showing confidence in their topic.

The presenter is not giving background, talking too softly, and their media is not strong.

Conclusion

We scratched the surface of the topic of the Holocaust.

What do you feel we missed?

How could we learn more?

What techniques should we use when researching?

Why do you think people go along with horrific acts?

What does it mean to stand up for what is right? What is the way we can stand up for what is right?

These are all questions to think about because we never want history to repeat itself. And it is up to all of us to make that the case.
