The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude--
Section 2.
The Congress shall have the power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.
The 15th amendment gives citizen of the United States the right to vote doesn’t matter their race, or color. In February 26, 1869. The 15th amendment was then enacted and it African American the right to vote. Even though this amendment was created people in southern states didn’t really take this amendment that lightly. White southerners wanted to take action against African Americans having to vote. So in the early 1890s the only reason you could vote is if any of your ancestors voted in the 1860s. This was unfair to African Americans because most of them didn’t have ancestors hat voted back then since.
To take action African Americans created organizations like National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, the National Urban League and other individuals like Booker T. Washington, W.E.B. Dubois, and etc. Booker T. Washington was one of the most respected African Americans back then. He took everything a lot peacefully even the issue of discrimination. He thought that Africans Americans should worry more about education and not the discrimination because he believed the discrimination might go away slowly. Ok so Booker T. Washington was the calm type of guy but W.E.B. Dubois was the complete opposite he thought we should immediately act on the issue discrimination.
