Introduction
Our planet is changing—and not for the better.
Temperatures are rising, storms are getting stronger, animals are losing their homes, and oceans are warming. These changes are caused by climate change, a global challenge affecting every living thing on Earth.
In this WebQuest, you will become Guardians of the Earth. Your mission is to understand what climate change is, what causes it, how it affects us, and what actions we can take to protect our planet.
Are you ready to become a climate hero?
Task
You will complete three major tasks:
Create an infographic that explains climate change (causes, effects, and solutions).
Choose one climate issue (polar ice melt, extreme heat, drought, typhoons, sea-level rise, etc.) and create a short video OR 2-paragraph report about it.
Develop a class “Climate Action Plan” to promote environmental responsibility.
You will submit these outputs digitally or as instructed by your teacher.
Process
III. Process
Step 1: Learn the Basics of Climate Change
Visit the resources listed below.
Take notes on the following:
What is climate change?
What causes it?
How does it affect people, animals, and the environment?
What can humans do to slow it down?
Step 2: Create Your Climate Change Infographic
Your infographic must include:
Definition of climate change
3 main causes3 visible effects
5 solutions ordinary citizens can do
Images or icons to support the ideas
Suggested tools:
Canva
Piktochart
Google Slides
PowerPoint
Step 3: Pick a Climate Issue & Explain It
Choose one topic:
Melting ice caps
Rising sea levels
Stronger typhoons
Drought and water shortages
Extreme heat
Wildfires
Deforestation
Pollution
Option A: Create a 1–2-minute video explaining:
What the issue is
Why it’s happening
Who is affected
How we can help
Option B: Write a 2-paragraph report covering the same points.
Step 4: Make a Class Climate Action Plan
As Earth Guardians, create a simple plan for students your age.
Include at least 6 actions, such as:
Planting trees
Using reusable containers
Saving electricity
Participating in clean-up drives
Practicing recycling
Reducing plastic waste
Present it as:
A poster
A group presentation
A digital document
A class pledge
Evaluation
| Criteria | Excellent (4) | Good (3) | Fair (2) | Needs Improvement (1) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Infographic | Complete, accurate, visually creative | Mostly complete, minor inaccuracies | Lacks detail or clarity | Very incomplete or unclear |
| Video / Report | Clear, informative, well-researched | Good explanation | Basic explanation, missing details | Minimal effort or many errors |
| Climate Action Plan | Creative, realistic, well-organized | Good effort | Some ideas but lacking detail | Poorly organized |
| Overall Effort | Shows excellent effort | Good effort | Satisfactory | Minimal effort |
Conclusion
You did it, Earth Guardian!
You explored the science behind climate change, learned its impacts, and created solutions to protect the environment. Remember:
🌱 Small actions can create big change.
🌎 Protecting the Earth begins with you.
Thank you for becoming a voice for the planet!
