Introduction

Call-and-response songs have a rich history worldwide. You will explore call-and-response songs from around the world and learn the purpose behind the songs. Get ready to have some fun singing and learning!

Task

Your task is to create your own call-and-response song, in groups of 2-3, using do-mi-so for the melody after listening to examples of songs from around the world.

 

Your song should include

  • at least 4 measures of calls
  • melodies using do-mi-so
Process

1. Decide on group members, no larger than three people in a group.

2. Watch at least 4 examples of call-and-response songs from the sources provided.

  • Listen for similarities in songs
  • Learn the historical purpose of the songs

3. Create your own call-and-response song with a specific purpose
