Artist Interview

Introduction

Imagine you woke up one day with the brand new ability to time travel. You can travel back in time to meet any of the artists we have learned about this year. You are able to meet them, speak with them, explore with them, and watch them create their art in real time. Each artist we have discussed has a unique background, inspiration, purpose, and method of creating. Now is your time to explore their personal lives and careers, up close!  

Task

You and a partner will conduct an interview with a famous artist. One person will be the interviewer, and one partner will be the artist. Your interview should include the most important information we should know about your artist. Be creative and channel your inner actor/actress!

SETTINGS/PROPS

Create a background for your interview that resembles the area and time your artist comes from. Are they in Paris? Spain? The 1700’s or the late 1900’s? Research this time period and assemble props, pictures, and other materials you may need to create this specific atmosphere. 

COSTUMES

 Gather costumes or clothes that reflect your artists’ style. The interviewer should dress to impress! 

INTERVIEW

Your interview should include the following information:

- Artist Bio Information (age, location, education, etc.)

- Artist Medium

-Artist Inspiration

-Knowledge of Artist most famous work 

SUBMISSION

Record your interview on your phone, and upload it to Google Classroom.

Conclusion

Stepping into the shoes of an artist gives you a closer look into their lives and inspiration for their work. Using the things that happened in their lives, their surroundings, and circumstances made them the artist we know them as today. Moving forward, reflect on the personal aspects of your life and determine how you can incorporate it into your art.
