The wonder of insects

Insects are fascinating creatures that play vital roles in our ecosystems. They can be found almost everywhere on Earth and come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and colors. In this WebQuest, students will explore the world of insects, learning about their characteristics, habitats, and the important roles they play in nature. This inquiry-based project will encourage students to ask questions, conduct research, and share their findings with others.

1.Research: Students will work individually or in pairs to select an insect species to research. They will investigate its physical characteristics, habitat, diet, life cycle, and role in the ecosystem.

2. Create a Poster or Digital Presentation: Students will create a visual representation (poster or digital slide) that includes:

   – The name of the insect and an illustration or photo

   – Key facts about the insect (habitat, diet, life cycle)

   – The insect's role in the ecosystem (pollinator, decomposer, etc.)

   – Interesting facts or myths about the insect

3. Present Findings: Students will present their posters or digital slides to the class, sharing what they learned about their chosen insect.

4. Class Discussion: After presentations, students will participate in a class discussion about the importance of insects in our environment and what we can do to protect them.

• Class Participation (20 points): Active involvement in discussions and providing feedback.
