“Exploring Renewable Energy”Intended Learners: Junior High School (Grade 9–10) Science students

Introduction

The world today is facing many environmental challenges, and one of the biggest concerns is how to produce clean energy. Fossil fuels are running out and damaging our planet. But don’t worry—scientists and innovators are working on solutions through renewable energy! In this WebQuest, you will become energy explorers who will investigate renewable energy sources and how they can power our future.

 

Task

You will work in groups to research one type of renewable energy (solar, wind, hydro, geothermal, or biomass). Your group will create a digital presentation (PowerPoint or Canva) explaining:

1. How the energy source works

2. Its advantages and disadvantages

3. Examples of its use in the Philippines or around the world

4. Why it is important for a sustainable future

 

At the end, each group will present their findings to the class.

Process

1. Form groups of 4–5 students.

2. Choose one renewable energy source (each group must have a different topic).

3. Assign roles within the group (researcher, writer, designer, presenter).

4. Use the resources provided below (plus your own research) to gather information.

5. Create a 5–7 slide presentation or infographic.

6. Practice your presentation before sharing with the class
