Climate Change Detectives: Investigating Our Changing Planet

Introduction

The Earth is changing—and fast. Rising temperatures, melting ice caps, and extreme weather events are becoming more common. But what’s causing these changes, and what can we do about them? In this WebQuest, you’ll become a climate change detective, uncovering the causes, effects, and solutions to one of the most pressing issues of our time.

Task

Your mission is to research climate change and create a digital awareness campaign. You’ll work in teams to produce:

  • A short explainer video or infographic

  • A list of practical solutions individuals and communities can take

  • A reflection on how climate change affects your local area

Your campaign will be shared with classmates and possibly posted on your school’s website or social media.

Process
  1. Form Teams: Work in groups of 3–5 students.

  2. Investigate:

    • What is climate change?

    • What causes it?

    • What are its effects globally and locally?

    • What can be done to reduce its impact?

  3. Explore Resources: Use the websites provided to gather facts, images, and data.

  4. Create Your Campaign:

    • Use Canva, Google Slides, or video editing tools to design your materials.

    • Include visuals, facts, and calls to action.

  5. Present & Reflect: Share your campaign with the class and discuss what you learned.
