Introduction
Imagine waking up one day and your community is flooded, crops are damaged, or the air feels too hot to breathe. These events are becoming more common because of climate change. In this WebQuest, you will take on the role of young researchers tasked to investigate the causes, effects, and possible solutions to climate change. Your findings will help raise awareness in your school and community.
Task
Your group will create a multimedia awareness campaign (poster + short presentation) to educate your classmates and the community about climate change. By the end of this activity, you should be able to explain the science behind climate change, identify its effects on local communities, and suggest practical actions people can take.
Process
1. Form groups of 4-5 members.
2. Assign roles:
• Researcher (gathers information from sources)
• Writer (summarizes information)
• Designer (creates poster/visuals)
• Presenter (explains findings)
• Coordinator (keeps group on track)
3. Research phase: Use the resources provided below to collect information about:
• Causes of climate chaaction
• Effects (global and local)
• Practical solutions and actions
4. Create your campaign materials:
• Design a poster with visuals and short messages.
• Prepare a 5-7 minute group presentation.
5. Present your campaign to the class
Evaluation
| Criteria | Excellent (4) | Good (3) | Fair (2) | Needs Improvement s (2) |
|---|
| Content Accuracy | Information is complete and accurate | Mostly accurate, few errors | Some errors, missing details | Many errors, incomplete |
| Creativity & Design | Poster/presentatic original, engaging, clear | Clear and neat and less engaging | Some effort but lacks creativity | Minimal effort, unclear |
| Collaboration | All group member: contributed effect | Most members Contributed | Few members were active | One person did all the work |
| Presentation Skills Clear |
Clear, confident, interactive delivery | Clear but less engaging | Somewhat unclear or rushed | Hard to understand, unprepared |
Conclusion
Through this activity, you have seen how climate change affects not just the planet, but our own communities. More importantly, you explored practical ways to be part of the solution. As future leaders and citizens, remember that small actions- like conserving energy, reducing waste, or planting trees can make a big difference when done together.
