The water cycle in Florida

Introduction

Students will investigate the stages of the water cycle and explain how Florida’s climate influences water movement.

Water is constantly moving through our planet in a never-ending cycle. In Florida, this cycle is influenced by the ocean, weather patterns, and the Everglades.

Have you ever wondered where the rain that falls in Florida comes from — or where it goes after it hits the ground? Every drop of water you see is part of a never-ending journey called the water cycle. In Florida, this journey is shaped by warm oceans, daily sunshine, and tropical storms. From the salty waves of the Gulf to the freshwater rivers feeding the Everglades, water is constantly moving, changing form, and supporting life.

In this WebQuest, you will explore how the water cycle works, discover the special ways it impacts Florida, and design a creative model or diagram to share your discoveries with others.

Task

Students will create a 3D model or interactive digital diagram showing the stages of the water cycle and explaining their importance.they will then present their presentation to the class.

Process

Students should visit the NOAA, NASA, and USGS links to understand how to water cycle and how it works in Florida climate. They should then list and define each stage of the water cycle. Then research examples of how Florida climates are influenced by each stage of the water cycle. Then as a group  the students should decide whether they will created a 3D model or a digital diagram.assign roles, creat project with clear labels for each stage, stopes showing the start flow, specific detail based on project. Students should write two to fours sentences explaining each stage and why it matters to Florida. Students should rehearse their presentation and then share their final product to the teacher and present to their classmates.
