The Oral Communication in Context for Senior High School aims for the development of listening and speaking skills and strategies for effective communication in various situations.
In this course, you will learn the Fundamentals of Public Speaking that features the basics of preparing and delivering a speech. From the drafting of the speech to its delivery, you will be guided with various strategies that can be applied successfully to public speaking.

Task
You will be given 2 tasks to complete this course.
I. Speech Writing:
Choose one from the given topics below and write anything that you would like to say about it (minimum of 100 words):
- My favourite hobby and why I enjoy it.
- The importance of a healthy diet.
- The impact of technology on daily life.
- How to overcome common fears.
- The joy of reading and its benefits.
Once you have your speech written, collect your thoughts and be ready for your next task:
II. 2 Minutes Filler-Free
Filler words like “uh” “um” and “y’know” not only make your talk more difficult to listen to, but they also make you seem less prepared and authoritative. For this exercise, record yourself giving a talk about your chosen topic for 2 minutes, taking care to omit all filler words. Whenever you use a filler word, your 2-minute mark will be cut down by a second.
Evaluation
Content Organization - 30% (Was the body of the speech organized; did it build up to a point based on the chosen topic?)
Interesting - 10% (was
Timeliness - 10% (Was the speaker able to maximize the 2-minute mark given in the task?)
Filler-words - 25% (Was the speaker able to omit filler words?)
Voice, Confidence, and Pronunciation - 25%
