An ecosystem is a community of interacting living and non-living organisms, and their physical environment.

A Rainforest is a dense forest, found typically in tropical areas with consistent rainfall.

Some interesting facts about the rainforest are.....

Some more information about rainforests is:

  • There was an estimated 10 million Indians living in the Amazonian Rainforest 5 centuries ago. Today there are less than 200,000.
  • Rainforests are found on every continent except Antartica.
  • Rainforests are critical in maintaining Earth's limited supply of drinking water and freshwater.
  • Rainforests were originally 6 million square miles but as a result of deforestation only 2.6 million square miles remain.
  • More than 56,000 square miles of natural forests are lost each year.
  • Less than 1% of tropical rainforest species have been analyzed for their medicinal value

  Parrot Facts

  • Parrots are fine looking birds mainly found in tropical and subtropical areas of the world.
  • A parrot can be described as a bird with a strong curved beak and strong legs. Most parrots are multicolored.
Task

Now to document your trip choose one of the following ways to record your fun trip.

  • Make a diorama of your ecosystem, include at least two animals and plants that live in your ecosystem ( ( tropical rainforest)
  • Create a  script for a small skit. Base this script on the adventure you had in The Tropical Rainforest.
  • Make a new species of animal or plant that will live in a rainforest. Include how it will thrive, how it will live in this environment. Also include a detailed drawing of your plant or animal.

Here are a few websites just in case you don't know where to research.

Process

Choose a task that you would like to do once choosen get materials for your task. Find research for your project. Once all research is done follow the step  by step instructions displayed below.

Diorama

Step One: Get the base for your task, preferebly a shoe box or something of that type.

Step Two: Get plants and dirt gather it in a container, get a lot because you would rather have too much than too little.

Step Three: Find animal figures and construction paper and put them with the rest of your materials.

Step Four: Trace the back shape of your box on the construction paper, this will give you the right measurements. Cut the figure out of the constuction paper and glue it onto the back of the box

Step Five: Glue your dirt onto the bottom of the box. Get creative and add the leaves in any order.

Step Six: Glue your animals down onto the base of the box, to do this you have to wait until your dirt and leaves have dried. When gluing your animals press down on each animal and give it extra pressure to make sure they stay.

Step Seven: Let your diorama dry over night and make a tag out of extra construction paper to make sure everyone knows what your diorama's about.

Script

Step One: Find a clean area and grab a pencil and paper.

Step Two: Create some characters that will venture with you in your script.

Step Three: Start writing your script, make it adventurous and interesting.

Step Four: Grab a couple friends and show them your script. Get them used to the script and rehearse it a couple of times.

Step Five: Show your class or whoever you choose the skit, act it out! You can even dress as the characters if you want, be creative. Just have fun!!!!

  Species

Just be creative on this one, there's no way we could tell you how to do this. We just want you to have fun and get creative.
