COVID-19 Supply chain disruptions

Introduction

 In the early months of 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted global supply chains. This caused shipping delays and shortages of important goods. As, a class you will explore how the pandemic impacted parts of the supply chain. You will look into what caused delays from raw materials to delivery of products. You will propose strategies that you think could help supply chains be prepared and with stand a pandemic.

Task

You will work in groups of 2 or 3 and research a specific disruption in Covid-19 pandemic. You will create a powerpoint that has the following information.

  1.  Describe the disruption you choose.

  2.  Figure out the cause and analyze the effects of the disruption.

  3. Evaluate how the government responded as well as the business it effected.

  4.  What do you recommend companies do in the future to stop the same disruption from happening again.

 

Process

1. Organize groups of 2-3 students, give them 10 minutes to pick their topic.

 

 

2.Students will research their topic with websites provided or their own creditable source. Students will gather data, pictures or other important information needed. 

 

3. Determine what caused the disruption and its key points( distribution, suppliers, transportation, company)

4. create a action plan with strategies that can help eliminate this from happening in the future. You can use case studies from big companies to get ideas of how they mitigated their supply disruptions.

 

5. Create a powerpoint presentation with your research.

 

Evaluation

Students will be evaluated on their presentation, research, strategies, collaboration.

Conclusion

Students will gain a deeper understanding of how one thing can disrupt entire global supply chain and how getting ahead and creating strategies to stop disruptions can help build resilience. this can help them to see challenges that they may face in supply chain management.
