Welcome Helpers in Training!

Have you ever wondered who helps our community every day? From putting out fires to teaching kids, these amazing people keep our town safe, clean, and happy! Your mission is to discover who these heroes are, what they do, and how you can be a helper too.

Guiding Question:

Who are the important helpers in our community, and how do they make our lives better?

 

Task

In groups of 3–4, you will explore the roles of different community helpers such as firefighters, police officers, doctors, teachers, and more. You will work together to create a narrated PowerPoint presentation about your chosen community helper and share it with the class.

Process

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Form your group of 3–4 classmates.

  2. Pick one community helper to research:

    • Firefighter

    • Police Officer

    • Nurse or Doctor

    • Teacher

    • Mail Carrier

  3. Choose your roles:

    • Leader: Keeps the group on task

    • Researcher: Gathers info from websites

    • Designer: Makes the slides colorful and fun

    • Narrator: Practices and records the voice-over

  4. Use these helpful research links:

    • Who is your helper?

    • What they do

    • Fun facts

  6. Add pictures and narration!

  7. Submit your project to your teacher.
